Science and the sacred...

...are explored together at the Jeffers Petroglyphs in Southwest Minnesota. At a place where several Native American tribes have held religious ceremonies for thousands of years, archaeologists study ancient rock carvings in concert with current Native elders.

In addition to learning about those efforts during guided tours of the bare Sioux quartzite outcroppings, visitors can explore trails through native and restored tallgrass prairie.

During their explorations, visitors may want to keep an eye out for poison ivy, hypothetically speaking.
