South Route Trail
Make sure your brakes work . . .
…before taking your bike on the South Route Trail. This trail parallels State Highway 90 between Minneopa State Park and Highway 22, including a deep dip into the Blue Earth River valley. Casual cyclists (*cough*) may find climbing out of the valley to be a notable challenge, but this trail is otherwise mostly flat and very well-maintained.
While it follows a highway, the approximately 8-mile (one-way) path is spaced well off the road and offers some nice scenery down in the valley and at the Minneopa trailhead.
